Expeditors' RSS Feeds

What is RSS?

RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. One of the greatest benefits of using RSS technology is that it makes it possible for you to scan the headlines of numerous web sites without actually having to go to the site in your web browser. If a headline interests you, you simply click on the headline to view the story. Many news web sites offer RSS feeds of current headlines. Expeditors has leveraged this technology to produce RSS feeds based on daily Newsflashes for regional logistics news.

For a more technical description of RSS, outlining the standards and how the technology works, check out these links:

What software do I need to use RSS?

To use RSS, you will need either an RSS reader program or a web browser that has built-in RSS capabilities.

An RSS reader program is what you would use to quickly scan headlines. The RSS reader program checks your specified web sites on a schedule and updates the headlines accordingly. RSS Readers can be run independently from your browser, or they can even be incorporated into your browser. An RSS reader program is required for Internet Explorer users.

Some web browsers such as Mozilla Firefox have built-in RSS capabilities. Firefox can display the RSS news headlines in the bookmarks menu. Note, as of January 2005, Internet Explorer does not have built-in RSS capabilities.

Where do I get an RSS reader?

Expeditors' Newsfeeds are provided in RSS 2.0 format. See the links below for more details on RSS readers.
